From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the actions of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as important members in the powerful family could assist the team reach places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Questers and Planners groups.
Fans can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
